Re: The judging problem

n fact I will go so far as to say at all grades courses should be flowing - killing speed with intricate moves is potentially damaging to dogs and, if anyone watched any of the FCI world champs clips - their courses speak for themselves. There are different ways of producing a level of difficulty ...

Re: Course times

Same here ... and it seems to be generally true of courses in the US as well, that they are more flowing. I personally like courses that are flowing for the dog, but challenge the handler ... much nicer than courses that twist the dog inside out.

Re: Is Facebook Killing the Forum?

Folks, thank you for all the various views expressed in this topic. Do keep the ideas coming, but also please do not overanalyse what other people say in response to you. Ideas are good, fruitless arguments are not. :) As for the forum registration system, I'll have a look at the gmail thing. Activ...

Re: Final call for 'Dave in the box'

It has always been a pleasure listening to your commentary at the shows, and your professionalism has made life easier for many a show organiser. Best wishes for a long and happy semi-retirement. :) :sun:

Re: Please keep Tim Dyer in your thoughts! **Important update

Sorry to have missed seeing this earlier. Big hug Tim :hugs: and get yourself better. :paw2: I'm trying, but failing, to think of a good joke to cheer you up. So here's a bad one instead ... this'll teach you not to be so calm, sensible and ... detached when posting messages in controversial for...

Re: Rejection of the fourth height

Thank you for the responses to my post which are all valued but thanks Tim for putting things in perspective. Welcome to the forum, Anthony. What you've stumbled into here is a debate which has cropped up at regular intervals over the last few years, and always gets a few people (includin...

Re: Rejection of the fourth height

Have read this topic with interest but have been surprised by the amount of invective generated. It always surprises me that people take up a sport or other interest and then want to change it to suit themselves. Whatever happened to 'agility is fun'? Just to play devil's advocate for a while, w...

Re: Rejection of the fourth height

When this argument started, I didn't have a vested interest (other than the fact that our little 10 year old medium mongrel would have had to jump higher if your preferred rules applied). I do now because I am training a very small sprollie that will measure large I'm sure. I don't have any concern...

Re: Concert for Dogs at Sydney Opera House

Here it is on the BBC news site, including video footage:

I've loved Laurie Anderson's music for many years, but this is definitely one of her weirder projects. :D

Re: Agility Software!

I prefer Agility Blues. http://www.arprosoftware.nl/agb2/default.asp I downloaded the demo vesion of this, and I like it - apart from the annoying music that comes with it. OK, I know I can turn my sound off! The way the dog's track is smoothed automatically is nice, and there...

Re: Training ideas for long thin space

A lot of ideas here for long narrow spaces:

http://agilitynerd.com/blog/agility/courses/steve/

You'd have to tweak them to suit your equipment available, but it should give you somewhere to start. :)
