Agility Addicts Training Rules

Training with Agility Addicts
• All course fees to be paid in full by the beginning of each course, by cash or cheque (payable to 'Agility Addicts').
• Refunds are not normally given, however we may at our discretion agree to carry forward fees to a future course.

N.B. due to the risks of overvaccination, we no longer ask to see annual vaccination certificates. If you decide not to vaccinate your dogs yearly, you may wish to consider blood titre testing.

Keeping the Training Venue Clean
• Please bring poo bags to clean up after your dog, and take them home for disposal in your own bin.
• Do not allow dogs to pee up the wooden boards or on the equipment - if they do so, wash it off!

Setting Up and Putting Away the Equipment
• Handlers training in the 7.30 classes are expected to arrive at about 7.00 pm to help set up.
• Handlers training in the 8.50 classes are expected to stay after training to help pack away.

What Training Gear to Use
• Agility Addicts particularly welcomes handlers willing to learn about clicker training and other positive methods.
• Bring clickers, tug toys, and bags with tasty tidbits such as cheese or sausage to motivate and reward your dog.
• Squeaky toys distract other dogs and are not allowed in our training classes unless they are 'dead'.
• Head halters or harnesses are fine while queuing, but use normal flat collars and leads for equipment work.
• Check or half check chains, and the various punishment collars (e.g. citronella), are not permitted.
• Make sure you wear suitable footwear with a good grip for running, e.g. Astroturf or hockey boots.

Conduct Expected of All Handlers
• Handlers under instruction must keep dogs on lead at all times except when it is their dog's turn to work.
• Please keep your dog under close control when working off lead. Do not allow it to invade other dogs' space.
• Other handlers must be able to hear the class instructor, so focus on your dog and don't let it bark continually.
• For safety reasons, no unsupervised practising on equipment except with prior permission from your instructor.
• Please note that we will ask anyone treating their own or any other dog harshly to leave Agility Addicts.
• For the benefit of all, we reserve the right not to train unfit or severely disruptive dogs.

Extra Information for the Beginner Course
• The minimum age limit for dogs on the Beginner course is 12 months (except for large breeds who must be older). The only exception to the minimum age is dogs trained by experienced, already competing agility handlers, where a 10 month minimum applies.
• Dogs will be enrolled at our discretion, assuming they have passed our basic assessment on the first evening.
• We do not accept dogs part way through the course, with the exception of any reserves.
